Trunks, portraits and other dimensional doors

For this list I'm primarily taking fics where trunks play an important role. This can be a trunk like Moody's with several compartments where one or more of them is actually a place you can live in. Or a trunk he inherited (for instance from his mother) where the trunk and its contents play a major role.

I'm also taking fics where a portrait or other object acts as a dimensional door. Or fics where someone actually enters a portrait and becomes part of it (for a long or short time). - I am not taking any other kind of fic where portraits play a major role. For those refer to painless_j's Afterlife: Portraits and statues (Fics dealing with afterlife as portraits or statues) or marginaliana's Animate Objects (Fics where portraits have an interesting personality).

When you rec stories for this list, please don't leave just a link. To put them up in this list I particularly need a summary and why the trunk is important or what item acts as dimensional door. Status (WIP, Complete, Abandoned or Hiatus), pairings (if there are any) and Rating would help as well!!!

After the Events of his fifth year Harry is angry. Fed up with Dumbledore's lies, half truth and deceits, he will no longer allow anyone to dictate his life. He trains very hard and along the way makes some startling discoveries. He discovers who he is.

Using complicated and advanced magics Harry enchants his trunk and creates Potter Manor in it.

new The Brave New World by bellerophon30. NR
A sixth and seventh year story, totally AU. Harry decides that his life expectancy will be greatly enhanced if leaves Dumbledore and Voldemort behind. Destination: The US.
Harry installs a Floo-system in his trunk so he can keep contact with the twins.

Harry Potter and the Dimensional Trunk by Ophiuchus. #
Harry/Ginny, Ron/Hermione. Sixth year. When Ron and Ginny inherit two linked trunks, they gift one of them to Harry so they can easily visit each other.

A 6th year story. Harry takes a look at his life and doesn't like what he sees, so he decides to declare his independance of Dumbledore and the Order of the Phoenix and fight the war on his own terms.
Harry installs a Floo-system in his trunk.

Harry Potter and the Manipulator of Destiny by Wheezy1. #
Harry/Hermione, Neville/Luna. Post OotP. Harry finds that Dumbledore has been less than honest or helpful with him, takes control of his own life and finds the training he needs from others.

Harry uses a portrait to assist to the will-reading of Sirius. Also Harry, Hermione, Luna and Ginny enter a portrait which acts as a dimensional door to the time of the Founders.

Harry Potter and the Power of Hogwarts by Prabal. #
Harry has finally got over Sirius's death. His Sixth year has started but Hogwarts seems to be in grave danger. What is it that Voldemort wants this time?

Harry custom-orders a trunk with magical compartments. Two of those compartments work like the Room of Requirement and Harry kind of lives inside the trunk.

Harry Potter and the Power of Time by RossWrock. #
Sixth Year, following OotP. Tired of the way Dumbledore and the Order treat him, and ready to face his destiny, Harry hides from Dumbledore and Voldemort both, dedicating long hours to muggle and magical training to take the fight to Voldemort for a change.

Harry buys a multi-compartment trunk his grandfather had ordered shortly before dying.

Harry Potter and the Runespoor Shield by Ms Spider. #
Harry/Ginny. Harry finds an old trunk his mother has left for him. How did she find the things in it, why did she think he'd need them? And how come Ginny's kitten looks just like the kitten Hagrid brought for his first birthday? And can Harry and Snape deal with their mutual animosity long enough to figure everything out?

Harry Potter and the Secret Sanctuary by Farfumsane. ##
Harry/Susan, Harry/SallyAnn Perks, Harry/OFC, and (eventually) Harry/Ginny, Ron/Hermione. Harry and Co’s 6th year is filled with new powers, places, experiences and faces. HighPower!Harry.
Remus gives Harry a magic rubic's cube his father used to have. When Harry solves it, it opens a dimensional door to Potter Mansion.

Harry Potter, Heir of Gryffindor by Brent Braten. NRC
Harry/Ginny. Harry's sixth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Complete. PG. (Author is considering a sequel but won't write it before book 7 is out as he wants to use parts of it, staying as close as possible to canon while integrating his own ideas.)
Moody gifts Harry with a multi-compartment trunk. Harry puts a library, a study, a room for Dobby and Winky, etc. in there.

Hiding by Volans.
Harry, tired of having things hidden from him and being manipulated, decides to run away. Ginny helps.
Harry and Ginny buy a door - which adds an apartment in Ginny's room.

Not Your Usual Veela Mate by Janara. ##
Harry/Draco, Lucius/Severus. Draco is a Veela and Harry is his mate. After what happened in OotP and during the summer - both with Dumbledore and his friends Hermione and Ron - Harry is actually glad for a chance to get away from them and cautiously in favour of mating with Draco.

Harry has a trunk with many rooms, in particular a huge library and a conservatory.

On The Last Day Of Our World by Sansa. NR
Harry/Draco. During a detention, Harry and Draco get locked in a strange room together overnight. When they escape the next morning, they discover they are alone. Love, angst and adventure abound as they struggle to survive in an empty world. This room serves as a portal.

Taking Control by fake a smile. #
Harry/Ginny, Ron/Hermione. It's the summer before Harry's 6th year, and Harry is wracked with grief. But what happens when Harry makes a vow to himself to take control of his life? Harry's life takes a sharp turn when he gets an unexpected visitor one night, who helps him on his way to finding himself. (Dumbledore is slightly manipulative but well-meaning and Harry still works together with him. Harry's friends Ron and Hermione also are a bit obnoxious: Hermione keeps pressuring him about suppressing is grief, absolutely convinced that she knows best. Ron is a bit more self-centered than in canon and very much against Ginny dating, and by his behaviour also drives a wedge between himself and Harry. I expect this to be resolved soon, though.)
