If you know of fics that aren't in my list yet, please tell me about them.
Don't just leave a link, though: leave a short summary, mention of pairings (if any), rating and a mention of Status (WIP/Complete/abandoned) and in particular a mention of who becomes an Animagus and what shape. And how much of an impact the Animagus-transformation has on the story. - As for abandoned fics, I'll only add them if they are really outstanding. Thanks. :-) And thank you everyone who contributed to this list.

6) Magical forms

Amulet of Time Series by Luna the Moonmonster. ##
After GoF Hermione gives Harry an ancient amulet for his birthday. When they evoke it, Harry, Hermione, Ron and Ginny end up in the time of the Founders. They need to spend a year each in the time of the Founders, Grindelwald-era and Marauders-time.
Harry is winged snow-leopard, Ron a thestral, Hermione a snowy owl and Ginny a pelican.
Four parts are complete, fifth part of the series is Abandoned WIP. PG-13

Betrayal of the Best Kind by draco664.
Harry/Cho. After GoF Harry gets framed for murder and thrown into Azkaban. When the world turns against him, leaving only one by his side, Harry finds out that life, love and truth are more complicated than they seem. Danger, suspense, heartbreak and treachery abound. Harry is a phoenix.

Sequel: Midnight Duel, Midnight Love.
Harry is betrayed once more. Can he take more heartbreak?
One-shot outtake: Burning Desire
Harry/Fawkes. This is an alternate to chapter 10 of Betrayal of the Best Kind. What if Harry had run away after the meeting with Cho and met up with Fawkes?

Coming Around by Deirdre Riordan.
Harry/Draco. Harry's been gone for four years after a bit of a misunderstanding. Draco wants him back. Harry is a phoenix.
One-shot. PG.

Dangerverse by whydoyouneedtoknow. ##
Sirius/OFC, Remus/OFC, Harry/Ginny, Ron/Hermione, Luna/Draco, Neville/OFC, Charlie/Tonks. AU. A few months after Voldemort's first fall Remus (with the help of two OFCs) finds out where Harry lives and how the Dursleys treat him. They also find out that Pettigrew was the traitor and that Sirius is innocent. They steal Harry and break Sirius out of Azkaban. Basically Harry, Draco and Hermione grow up together with Remus, Sirius and their wives. Story consists of Main-story (with several sequels: first part tells the story till Hogwarts, second story the first two years, third story is currently WIP and tells year 3 and 4.), several one-shots (telling stories of Sirius and Aletha, romance-stories written by Sirius, etc.) and AU-stories (yes, AU to the AU. lol) Very original story!
In the second part Remus and the two OFCs become Animagi, in the third part the kids start to learn. Remus is a lion, Danger a wolf, Aletha a winged horse, Hermione a cat, Harry a wolf, Neville a demi-guise (monkey that can turn invisible), Luna an owl, Draco a fox, Ginny a lynx, Ron a hawk.
Interesting explanation as to why the Animagus-transformation is so hard: everyone needs to find their own spell.

Dark Phoenix by SofiaDragon. ##
Harry/Snape. After OotP Harry decides to run away from the Dursleys. As he is running, suddenly he finds himself flying: he had changed into a bird, a phoenix. Deciding that nobody would search for Harry Potter in Snape's dungeons, he stays with Snape over the summer.

Dumbledore's Army by BobMin. ##
Sequel: Harry Potter and the Spiritus Crystalus
AU sixth and seventh year. Harry sees two visions of Voldemort where he destroys Hogsmeade and Hogwarts and now dedicates all his energy to making sure it will not happen like this. He trains the DA as an army, has them develop new spells, etc. He himself is also outstandingly powerful. The story is very all-encompassing; while it's definitely Harry-centric, it shows a lot of characters and what happens to them. Dumbledore is a bit of an idiot at first (but gets better later) and Snape is quite reformed (partly from finding out the truth about the Dursleys, partly from his new marriage after getting found out as a spy). Dursley-abuse taken to extreme here and Harry gets adopted by the Weasleys. Pairing Harry/Ginny, Ron/Hermione, Luna/Neville, Tonks/Remus, Snape/OFC.
Harry is a phoenix, Luna is an owl.

Harry/Draco. The seventh years try their hand at the Animagus-transformation. Harry as a snidget.

Harry Potter and the Forgotten Shards by wargear. #
The Ministry Crew decides to become Animagi in honor of Padfoot; and if they do it, they do it right - they all become magical Animagi: Harry is a phoenix, Ron a griffin, Hermione a peryton (winged reindeer-predator), Neville a dragon, Luna a pegasus and Ginny a stormcrow.

Harry Potter and the Psychic Serpent by Barb psychic_serpent. NR
H/Hr, H/G, R/Hr, D/G. In Harry’s fifth year he gets a snake with the Sight. Hermione's torn between Ron and Harry, who’s torn between her and Ginny, who's torn between him and Draco Malfoy, who's torn between her and loyalty to his father. Plus: a Prophecy, Animagus training, a Dueling Club, Snape's Pensieve, kilts, giants, house elf liberation and more!
Harry is a golden griffin. (This form allows him to cross long distances quickly.)

Harry/Ginny. Harry finds an old trunk his mother has left for him. How did she find the things in it, why did she think he'd need them? And how come Ginny's kitten looks just like the kitten Hagrid brought for his first birthday? And can Harry and Snape deal with their mutual animosity long enough to figure everything out? Harry is a phoenix.

Harry Potter and the Time Mage by MaxFic. #
Harry/Ginny. Harry Potter has finally found out what "the power the Dark Lord knows not" is: he is a Time Mage. But it's too late, he has lost the war. So he rewinds time, returning to a time to before he attended Hogwarts and hoping that this time around he'll do better.
Harry and Ginny are True Gryphons, the twins Siamese Cats, Ron a fox and Hermione an owl.

Harry/Snape. Harry and Severus are caught in the cross fire of two hexes, causing them to be in each others company or they will suffer pain.

Harry/Ginny, Ron/Hermione. Harry's fifth year and he's just been chosen by the Order. Kinda strange, especially since the only living member in the Order is Harry! New powers, new friendships, new relationships and old enemies.
Harry is an Imperial Griffin. (plays a more important role during the second part of the trilogy). Ginny is a horse.

Peorth by Bleudiablo. #
When Hagrid dropped Harry off after getting his supplies for first year, things went slightly different. Uncle Vernon takes away all his supplies (safe his wand), kills Hedwig and beats Harry, locking him into his cupboard. Harry flees and somehow manages to transform into an animal, a Panivco (some kind of winged cat). He happens across Snape and bonds to him.

Phoenix Intuition by Semprini. NRC
Sequel to Harry Potter and the Veil of Mystery and Harry Potter and the Ring of Reduction.
Five years ago Harry Potter has defeated Voldemort but now Evil stirs again. Harry becomes stuck in his phoenix-form and it's up to others to fight.
Both Harry and Luna are phoenixes.

After Harry's defeat of Voldemort in his sixth year, Snape adopts him. Harry is some kind of griffin, Snape a king cobra with several more students as Animagi.

Snape's Invisible Friend by teacherbev. ##
AU: Harry rescues himself as a baby and chooses Snape as his protector, why no one knows because the toddler isn't telling and no one can see him but Snape. Snape adopts Harry who grows up at Hogwarts with Dumbledore as "grandfather" and McGonagall as "grandmother".

The Awakening of a Magus by the-dreamer4. ##
After GoF, Harry suddenly starts to change, both his body and his magic become more powerful as he changes to a so-called Magus as outstandingly powerful wizards are called. Dumbledore and Snape as mentors, close relationship with several other adults. No real pairing though a hint of "friends with benefits" between Harry and Tonks. Harry's primary shape is an Imperial Dragon but he can assume pretty much any shape he wants.

Beastfriend by Katling swordkat.
In the aftermath of the disaster at the Ministry, Hedwig and Fawkes try to find a way for Harry to succeed. Their solution - a sacrifice on the part of the animals of the magical world and a gain for Harry.
Ten different animals (some magical, some mundane) sacrifice their lives to give Harry gifts. He can then change into any of those ten animals and also has some of their gifts (such as understanding the speech of birds for instance) in human shape.

A Bittersweet Potion series by Alchemia Dent alchemia and bugland.
Harry/Snape. Harry gets the gift to turn into every animal he wishes. He slinks around the dungeons mostly in the shape of a cat.

Death Eater takes a Holiday by Lee Lee Potter. #
Harry/Snape, Ron/Hermione. Several members of the Hogwarts staff take a de-aging potion over the holidays when only a few students are at school. Young Severus and Harry fall in love. What will happen when Severus returns to his true age and remembers who Harry is?
Harry can turn into whatever form he thinks of.

The Founder's Heir by Renatus. ##
Harry gets sent back in time to the time of the Founders where he is trained and sent back to his own time with a task, the task to defeat Tom Riddle.
Because he is an Heir Harry has two forms: he is a dark brown Falcon, and a small leopard like animal and can also combine those forms or add the falcon-wings to his human body.

Harry Potter and the Dimensional Trunk by Ophiuchus. ##
Harry/Ginny, Ron/Hermione. Sixth year. When Ron and Ginny inherit two linked trunks, they gift one of them to Harry so they can easily visit each other.
Harry, Ron, Ginny and Hermione all become Animagi. Harry is both a phoenix and a thestral-like creature (a winged wolf with cobra-fangs), Ginny a falcon, Hermione a leopard and Ron a lion.

Harry Potter and the Daemon Sidhe by Katling swordkat Or Here. #
Harry/Ginny, Ron/Hermione. In the aftermath of the events of the Ministry, Harry is in dire need of help. That help arrives in the form of six mysterious people, along with his friends and even foes, who give him the strength and support he will need to defeat Voldemort. Written post-OotP but will take some factors of HBP into account.
He sort of becomes a King and has to select a Court (the Ministry Crew, Remus, Severus). He and members of his Court gain three animal forms which work a lot like Animagus-forms.

Harry Potter and Fate's Debt by Intromit. ##
Harry receives a letter from his future self "Get to know Ginny" just before he starts Hogwarts, resulting in a soulbonding with her the moment he first meets her at the station. Starts out pretty much as canon, slowly diverting more and more from it as it follows the books.
Their soulbond allows them to share their Animagus-shapes, thus both Harry and Ginny are both a phoenix and a panther.

It's Harry's fifth year and things aren't going well at the Dursley's or Hogwarts. New powers, a prophecy and Snape!

Harry is the Heir of all Four Founders and has basically unlimited Animagus-forms.

Harry Potter and the Secret Sanctuary by Farfumsane. ##
Harry/Susan, Harry/SallyAnn Perks, Harry/OFC, and (eventually) Harry/Ginny, Ron/Hermione. Harry and Co’s 6th year is filled with new powers, places, experiences and faces. HighPower!Harry.

Harry Potter and the Marcello School by Kjkit.
After another meeting with Voldemort shortly after Sirius' death, Harry accidentally apparates to the Marcello School, a hidden school training students to fight by any means. He learns wandless magic, Animagus-transformation, sword-fighting and how to manipulate the elements. Harry is a multiple Animagus, his most prominent form being a phoenix.

In the aftermath of the Ministry debacle, Harry is offered a priceless gift of training by the Founders of Hogwarts. Set post-OotP and pre-HBP but will take aspects of HBP into account.

Sixth + seventh year fic. Harry and his friends have to deal not only with the normal problems of teenagers but a lot of little plots Voldemort throws at them, trying to kill Harry. Harry, after a very rare magical illness, is outstandingly powerful and thus has the capacity to become a multiple Animagus. His forms include stag, raven, phoenix, thestral, flying squirrel, frog, wolf, dog, cat, damselfly. Harry/Ginny, Ron/Hermione. Ron is a collie, Ginny a fox.

This Means War by jeconais. ##
When her brothers ruin her relationship with Dean, Ginny swears revenge. She starts to date Harry who is the only one able to stand up to her brothers and whom she has long been in love with. Email at Hogwarts and humor.
Harry has a special relationship with his magic: as long as he doesn't know that something is impossible, he can still do it. To prove he is a true Gryffindor, McGonagall tells him that he has two Animagus-forms. Thus he learns to turn into both a wolf and a hawk.
